Cathedral of St Domnius in the centre of 3rd century palace of Roman Emperor, Diocletian |
I wonder what covered the skylight in this circular 'vestibule' in the entrance to Emperor Diocletian's chambers 1,700 years ago?
Fresh local seafood is a feature of most meals here in Split . . .
We chose the sea bass at Nostromo Restaurant in the fish market for dinner, and carpaccio of sea devil and tuna at Varos for lunch |
And you can't beat the summer fruits at breakfast each day at our new hotel Vestibul Palace right next to the vestibule in Diocletian's Palace.
As you can see, I am still practising the focus and blurred 'bokeh' effect in some photographs |
Walking with Ivanna, an expert in local history, is probably the highlight of our visit to Split. I had a thirst for some history after our relaxing cruise around the islands for seven days. Understanding what motivated a Roman Emperor; learning a little of the politics of the period; and seeing the magnitude of Diocletian's 3rd Century Palace rounds off the complete Croatian experience.

I think the colonnade is an awesome shot.
